Ascend Church Tempe started as a divine call for Pastor Dave while on staff at Red Mountain Christian Center in Mesa, AZ. With the support of the RMCC community and Pastor Jeff Peterson, the church was birthed in Quo Vadis Bookstore in January 2009. The church quickly grew and moved to the New School for Arts and Academics near the campus of Arizona State University.
The first decade of ministry for the church was primarily centered around the ASU Campus. In 2013 the church moved from the NSAA to 1040 E Apache Blvd. There the church continued to serve both the ASU community and the Tempe Community. While there, Pastor Dave served on the Board of Community Ministries International, was on the Inaugural Board of the Campus Chrisitan Center, and served as Vice President of the ASU Counsel of Religious Advisors.
In 2019, a second location for Ascend Chruch was established in the town of Guadalupe led by Pastor's Jesse and Pearl Gutierres. In 2021 Ascend Church Tempe officially moved from its location near the ASU campus to its current location at 1615 E. Guadalupe Blvd. Tempe, AZ 85283.
